A$AP Rocky Says Dark Skin Women Shouldn’t Wear Red Lipstick

ASAP-beauty-33

A$AP Rocky has long dubbed himself the “pretty motherf-cker” in his songs, and is now offering questionable beauty tips to women. The Harlem rap star said that women of dark complexion should avoid wearing red lipstick, further adding only women with fairer complexions can pull the look off. In an interview with fashion website, The Coveteur, Rocky discusses his daily grooming regimen and other details, such as using witch hazel to cleanse his skin. The “F-ckin Problems” rapper even talked up how he cares for his signature braids, which includes just washing his hair once per week. The interview takes a turn, however, when Rocky shares his thoughts on women wearing makeup and the dropping the red lipstick bomb in that discussion. A quote from A$AP Rocky’s interview:

But for real, for me, I feel like with the red lipstick thing it all depends on the pair of complexion. I’m just being for real. You have to be fair skinned to get away with that. Just like if you were to wear like—f-cking for instance, what do dark skin girls have that you know fair skinned girls can’t do… Purple lipstick? Naw, that looks stupid on all girls!

Although reaction to the quote has been mild thus far, several women responded to Rocky’s advice by posting photos via social media. One Twitter user tweeted, “As a dark skin woman, I really wish ASAP ROCKY would tell me that I shouldn’t wear red lipstick,” complete with photo.

A$AP Rocky Calls Rihanna A “Pothead,” Speaks On Producing For “LongLiveA$AP”

A$AP Rocky has stirred the rumor mill a few times in regards to his relationship with Rihanna. During a performance of “Cockiness (Remix)” at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, the Harlemite grabbed the singer’s behind, fueling speculation that they’re an item. During an interview with RollingStone.com, Flacko discussed the true nature of his relationship with RiRi, claiming that it’s more about their love of marijuana than anything. “Rihanna is a pothead and so am I, so we’re real cool,” he said. “Weed is going to bring us together as a generation. Drugs is what created Woodstock. Let’s be clear about that.” He also touched on his upcoming debut LongLiveA$AP, which sees him producing a few tracks under an alias. Fielding a question about why he decided to go behind the boards for the songs, he said that he felt like he was capable of pushing his limits. ”Man, because I felt like I could do anything,” he said. “If I could produce videos, I could produce songs. I produced [the track] ‘LongLiveA$AP’ with Jim Jonsin and ‘Jodye’ along with Joey Fatts. I added the sound effects of the storms in the middle when the hook drops – the filters on it. That was all me. I also co-produced ‘Fashion Killa.’” Read the full interview over at RS.com.

A$AP Rocky Says He Inspires Kanye West, Hates Lil Wayne's Style

When A$AP Rocky stopped By DJ Drama’s show, the emcee and deejay had fashion on their minds. During the conversation, A$AP Rocky clarified earlier comments, acknowledging that he hates the way Lil Wayne dresses. He also went on to add that while Kanye West inspires him, you can’t tell him that he doesn’t inspire Kanye.

“I hate the way Lil Wayne dresses sometimes,” Rocky said. “The lime green Ugg boot thing? I didn’t like that but that’s his style. There’s people who probably hate the way I dress – not a lot – but a few people might hate the way I dress. That’s my style. At the end of the day, I’m not judging. They asked me my opinion, how I felt, and all I gave them was my feedback. He’s got way more money than me, way more successful so I can’t say nothing bad about him.”

He continued with fashion, saying that the inspiration between Kanye West and him has to be mutual.

“Kanye inspires me. There’s no way in hell you could tell me that I don’t inspire Kanye. Everybody, as an artist, could look at it as competition but it’s just clothes.”
