Ali Shaheed Muhammad Says There Are “No Plans” For A New A Tribe Called Quest Album

Native Tongue fans won’t like this news. In a new interview, Ali Shaheed Muhammad of a Tribe Called Quest crushes fans hopes of getting a new album from the seminal Hip-Hop group anytime soon, if at all. “We  talk about it. Especially with the documentary, I think it has stirred up the conversations,” Muhammad told Montreality. “Not within the group but just with the fans really wanting to see another record. But we haven’t talked about it, so…no plans.” Clearly some of the internal strife that was revealed in the doc that Muhammad mentions (Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest)  has yet to be squashed. Montreality also spoke with Phife recently last year, who at the time echoed his group member’s sentiments. “As far as Tribe, we’re really really far away from doing a joint effort right now. But basically I’d like to do it for the fans sake ’cause that’s really what’s it all about. So keep your fingers crossed, you never know.” Indeed you never want to say never, but ATCQ‘s last album was The Love Movement, was released 15 years ago. Also, November 9, 2013 will mark the 20th anniversary of the released of their classic Midnight Marauders album. The group, was last seen together on stage during last year’s BET Hip Hop Awards, performing in a special tribute to the late Chris Lighty, who used to manage the act. Q-Tip, who is signed to Def Jam via G.O.O.D. Music Records, has plans to drop a new album titled The Last Zulu later this year. As for Muhammad, the Brooklyn native is still putting the finishing touches on his long in the works solo project and in the extensive interview (watch below) also discusses the late J. Dilla, the aforementioned “Baby” Chris Lighty and more.

Meek Mill Talks Possibility Of Rick Ross & 50 Cent Ending Beef

Meek Mill Talks Possibility Of Rick Ross & 50 Cent Ending Beef

50 Cent and Rick Ross have had a storied beef that’s gone on for years, most recently flaring up at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards after Fif’s crew had an altercation with Maybach Music Group‘s Gunplay. During an interview with Shade 45‘s “Sway in the Morning,” Meek Mill said that he would put an end to the problems between Fif and his MMG boss, stating that he’s known the G-Unit general longer than he has Ross and that he doesn’t want to end up in the middle of their issues. “What they got goin’ on, they grown men. It’s been going on for a long time. If I could, I would,” he said. “I knew 50 before I ever even signed with Ross. When I signed with Ross, I couldn’t just act like I don’t like 50 at all. That would be fake of me. If I could, I would. I don’t like seeing nobody I know go through anything. I don’t want to be in the middle one day and gotta choose sides or anything like that.” The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania rapper said that if Ross and 50 encountered each other in person and he was present, he would try to mend fences between them. “I had plans on doing that. If I ever see them around each other, if I’m around, there ain’t gonna be no fighting or nothing like that,” he said. Most recently, 50 Cent reportedly wore Gunplay’s MMG chain in the video for “Major Distribution.” When HipHopDX asked Gunplay for his thoughts on the clip, he replied, “No comment.”

50 Cent Says Rick Ross Staged Drive-By Shooting Attempt

50 Cent Says Rick Ross Staged Drive-By Shooting Attempt
50 Cent takes to Twitter to claim that Rick Ross wasn’t actually the target of a drive-by shooting attempt.

Earlier this morning, Rick Ross crashed his Rolls Royce in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after someone fired shots at his vehicle, prompting him to drive his car into a building. His longtime foe 50 Cent took to Twitter shortly after news broke, posting a picture of the vehicle being towed and noting that it did not have bullet holes. “Hahaha fat boy hit the building?lol it looks staged to me. No hole’s in da car,” wrote Fif. Though the longtime beef between Ross and 50 has simmered over the past year, tensions mounted at the BET Hip-Hop Awards last September after members of the G-Unit clique got into a brawl with Maybach Music Group‘s Gunplay. Ironically, the ceremony was the same location where 50 publicly mended fences with Fat Joe

50 Cent Addresses MMG Chain In “Major Distribution” Video

50 Cent Addresses MMG Chain In "Major Distribution" Video

50 Cent addresses rumors that Gunplay’s MMG chain made a cameo appearance in his latest music video.

Even though fans will have to wait until the spring before50 Cent releases his long-awaited Street King Immortal, that isn’t keeping the G-Unit general out of the headlines. Now, in a recent interview with MTV, Fif discusses the appearance of a solitary Maybach Music Group chain in his latest video, “Major Distribution.” Although rumors are circulating that the MMG pendant in question is the same chain Fif’s entourage snatched fromGunplay during their scuffle at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, 50 said that the chain actually came from a jeweler. He explained that he wanted to include the chain in the video to shock viewers. ”It came from a jeweler. Jewelers, they made it. Yeah, we got it and ended up putting it in the video. That’s what rappers do: Rappers put jewelry in videos,” he said. ”I thought it would be unexpected, like when you see A$AP [Rocky] with a Death Row hat on. It’s cool, it’s interesting. You look and say, ‘Wait, something is out of place’…[but the] rumors today, you can’t believe everything you hear on the Internet. It’s crazy.”
