John Legend Says Kanye West Doesn’t Make Beats Anymore

Nobody can question Kanye West‘s acumen as a producer. Yeezy has crafted smash hits for Jay-ZAlicia KeysFreewayNasLil Wayne and G.O.O.D. Music signee John Legend. Speaking of Legend, the smooth R&B crooner stopped by Power 105‘s The Breakfast Club morning program and chatted up the crew about working with Sade and other news. The big bombshell he dropped, however, was revealing that Kanye West has stopped banging out the beats and instead enlists others to do his some of his heavy lifting. To be fair, Legend didn’t dump on Yeezy as if he’s not involved in the music making process. The singer clarified his statements; he was careful to mention that West is still very much a producer and stating they remain close creative collaborators.

“He doesn’t really make beats anymore,” shared Legend. “But he suggests beats to write to. He has all these young producers coming through and he just curates it and just helps put the album together. He helps write songs, he curates the beat selection, all that, song selection and helps with the videos.” Legend was clear in restating the West is still hands on, after a flabbergasted Charlamagne balked at the news. Legend even added that West will still “tweak” the beats himself but he’s not involved in all stages of the track as once before. “We think of production as making beats, but production is the vision and Kanye is a producer in a classic sense, that’s how Quincy Jones was,” added Legend. John Legend‘s upcoming album Love In The Future is slated to drop June 25

Tyga Says Cash Money Has Never Paid Him

Tyga Says Cash Money Has Never Paid Him

In an interview with Power 105‘s “The Breakfast Club,” Young Money/Cash Money rapper Tyga revealed that he doesn’t make money from his record deal. In fact, aside from an advance, Tyga claims he’s never received a check from YMCMB.

“I never got a check from Young Money/Cash Money,” Tyga said in the interview. “But by me saying that, I’ve always treated my career like independent and everything that I got is because of myself, my own endorsements, me touring, myself. I think I got a signing bonus when I first signed but that was it.”

“At a certain time, you get your money but at the same time, they pay for your videos and all that other stuff. But I never really was dependent on the label like that,” Tyga added. “I felt if I wanted to be independent, I could do that because it would be no difference. I would still tour, put out albums and still sell out shows.”

French Montana Says Max B Will Be On Excuse My French, Will Donate Proceeds To Family

French Montana was a guest on The Breakfast Club this morning shortly after performing at SOB’s in New York City last night. In this interview with DJ Envy, Charlemagne The God and Anglea Yee, French touched on multiple topics including the recent shooting that took place outside of his tour bus in Philadelphia. In addition to shooting down [no pun intended] rumors that he was involved or targeted, he also spoke about his upcoming album, Excuse My French, and the inclusion of Max B.C” I still have some work of his that I haven’t released yet. I’m actually going to be giving his family, like a certain amount of money off of each album that gets sold,” French told Angela Yee of The Breakfast Club. Yee went on to inquire if Jim Jones still had contractual obligations  towards Bigavelli. “I’m not going to use him as far as songs on the album because I don’t know what as far as paperwork. You know Max would just sign anything. Would be like $100,000 he’d say give me that…then there goes half my publishing. So he’d sign anything. So I don’t know where the paperwork was going to come from but, I just got him talking on the intro.”

Gunplay Responds To Saigon, Dares Him To “Try To Punch” Rick Ross

Gunplay isn’t the type of guy that you want to f-ck with, and Saigon might just get caught in his cross-hairs .

Between the Swastika tattoo, criminal record, and admitted drug history, the 33-year-old has a storied reputation, and when asked about Saigon’s comments towards Rick Ross his response was nothing nice.

During an interview with Power 105.1‘s The Breakfast Club earlier this week, Saigon was asked who he would like to punch, and named Ross and 2 Chainz, as two of the people he’d like to go after for the explicit content of their music, which he believes is being marketed to children.

In an exclusive interview with Hip-Hop Wired, Gunplay not only challenged Saigon to put hands on Ross but questioned his motive. “I got a son too, Ross got a daughter, Ross got a son. I dare you to do that sh-t.” he says. “To each his own, if that’s how he feel… try to punch him in the face.”

More than anything, Gunplay wonders how threatening violence will solve the problem. “You saying this [but] you’re tryna punch somebody in the face? I’m sayin’, what’s wrong with dog? I don’t know what’s up with that sh-t.”

When it comes to his own music, the “Drop” rapper will not only continue to spit about whatever he pleases but could care less about any critics. “I’ma say ‘I smoke crack,’ and I’ma say ‘I shoot heroin,’ and what’s up?” he says before going back to Saigon. “Why you goin’ in on Ross? Go in on everybody else. You just singling out two people ‘cuz they the hottest n-ggas in the game right now. Why you singling them out? Everybody has kids, what makes yours so special?”
