Chris Lighty's Family Launches Petition

The family of late music manager Chris Lighty is seeking further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Lighty’s apparent suicide. The family has launched a petition urging that certain forensic tests be conducted that were not taken care of at the time of the famed industry mainstay’s August 2012 death. “The main problem that we encountered was that the NYPD did not do a thorough investigation into Chris’ death,” Attorney Scott Leemon said in a statement. “In fact, what they did do was cursory, at best.”

Leemon states that a gunpowder residue test was not conducted at the death scene, nor was a DNA test conducted on the weapon used in the death. “We have uncovered real information that needs to be followed up on by those in authority,” said Lighty’s mother. The family’s petition is available to sign at iPetition.

Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly was laid to rest today at Memorial Baptist Church in Atlanta. Family and many industry friends were there to pay their final respects. Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri wore their pants backwards in tribute to Chris, who along with Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith made it trendy to wear your clothes backwards during the height of their fame.

Smith and Kelly were discovered by Dupri at an Atlanta mall in 1990. The duos debut album, Totally Krossed Out, is certified 4x platinum by the Recording Industry of America. The 1992 album spawned the hit record “Jump.”

Details Emerge In Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly's Death, Mother Releases Statement

In the last 12 hours since Kriss Kross member Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly’s death was reported, information is building concerning the former So So Def Records‘ artist’s untimely death at the age of 34 years old. Last night, the label founded by Jermaine Dupri and Chris mother, Donna Kelly Pratte released a joint statement on Chris. It was published in the Hollywood Reporter:

“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris – the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him.” Additional reports by TMZ have alleged that Kelly died of a drug overdose, according to what his mother told first responders. The drugs believed to be involved are a “speed-ball,” a powerful and often lethal mixture of cocaine and heroin. A formal autopsy is scheduled for this morning.

Finally, Chris Brown makes headlines for being the victim and not the aggressor! According to online sources, rapper Chris Brown was approached byan outraged “fan” last night at the popular L.A. nightclub Play House. Chris quickly made his way to his car as the man followed shouting, “I ain’t never seen a ni**a jump that fast in a car!” According to onlookers outside the club, an unidentified agitated male approached Breezy’s Lamborghini for unknown reasons yelling, “Is that motherf**ker bulletproof?!” Avoiding conflict, Chris opted to stay inside his vehicle as the heckler continued his rant. “Yo, scary-ass Chris, is that motherf**ker bulletproof?!” Not one to stay silent, Chris shouts back asking the guy if he’s bulletproof.  Then it dropped…

“I’m a Crip Ni**a, hell yeah I’m bulletproof!”

As Chris’ car makes its ways away from the scene, the window goes down and someone, whose voice sounds similarly to CB’s, shots back to the guy, “Don’t get f**ked up out here my ni**a.” As of now, no statements have been made by Chris Brown or his team regarding the incident, nor has there been any explanation for the guy’s aggression.  Keep it here for updates on this story!

Rihanna’s mother, Monica Braithwaite, is supporting her daughter’s relationship with Chris Brown. In Rihanna’s recent Rolling Stone interview, her mother was asked her opinion on her daughter’s relationship. No matter what anyone else thinks of her daughter, Monica believes in Rihanna’s ability to make the right decisions. “I know her,” said Monica. “I’m very proud of her.” Monica believes that her daughter is headed in the right direction and is very conscience of the decisions she is making. “She has her head on straight. I have to let her make her decisions, and I can only sit back and hope and pray for the best,” said Monica. Monica’s decision to support her daughter throughout her roller coaster relationship with Chris just adds to the constant motherly love she provides to Rihanna. Monica tells Rolling Stone that she is amazed by her daughter’s ability to make the right decision.

CHRIS BROWN GETS HAND CAST AFTER FRANK OCEAN FIGHT

And.the.story.continues.  Following this mornings report, claiming Chris Brown wants to tell detectives his side of the story, because he did nothing wrong, things look slightly different now. The Pop star was spotted Tuesday afternoon leaving his house wearing a cast over his right hand. A witness originally told TMZ that Chris threw the first punch after Frank refused to shake his hand. However, Brown claims that he did not make the first move. Chris’ lawyer, Mark Geragos, stated the surveillance video they obtained from Westlake Studios shows that Chris did not throw a punch. But the video also clears Frank of any wrongdoing, only showing their crews fighting.
