Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly Of Kris Kross Laid To Rest In Atlanta. Jermaine Dupri & Da Brat Pay Tribute By Wearing Their Pants Backwards

Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly was laid to rest today at Memorial Baptist Church in Atlanta. Family and many industry friends were there to pay their final respects. Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri wore their pants backwards in tribute to Chris, who along with Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith made it trendy to wear your clothes backwards during the height of their fame.

Smith and Kelly were discovered by Dupri at an Atlanta mall in 1990. The duos debut album, Totally Krossed Out, is certified 4x platinum by the Recording Industry of America. The 1992 album spawned the hit record “Jump.”

So So Def Records is celebrating its 20th anniversary and founder Jermaine Dupri is making sure the milestone is celebrated in style. Last night at a secret location in Atlanta, JD hosted a private dinner for the old crew and on hand were Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Bonecrusher, Youngbloodz, latest act Fresco Kane and more. Interestingly, Bow Wow and Chris Kelly of Kris Kross were in attendance, meeting for the first time. “In all these years, this is the first time that Bow Wow and Chris Kelly have ever met,” Dupri reportedly announced during the dinner. “Bow Wow is a product of Kris Kross, so the fact that we can bring everyone together like this means a lot.” The So So Def 20th anniversary concert goes down this Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7:30pm at the Fox Theatre  in Atlanta. Rumor is that Jay-Z may even pop up as a special. As for the dinner, it was a way for JD to thank the people that made his label so influential. “This is my way of saying thank you for helping me build the So So Def empire,” he said. “This is a historical moment, so tonight I’m celebrating you. Sit back, relax…I’m gonna serve you. But enjoy it, because that will never happen again!”

Former child Rap duo Kriss Kross is back – at least long enough to spit “wiggity-wiggity-wack” one last time. The onetime So So Def act, consisting of Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith burst onto the scene with their smash hit “Jump,” and are remembered for their baggy and backwards outfits (and perhaps the“Rugrats Rap”). According to TMZ, the duo has announced that they will be reuniting to perform at a 20th anniversary all-star concert honoring So So Def Recordings in Atlanta in February. Along with acts like Da Brat and Xscape, Kriss Kross made waves in popular music with label head Jermaine Dupri.
