The NY Daily News reports that Dame Dash says that debt has him on the brink of eviction; the former Roc-A-Fella Records mogul could be kicked out of a rented mansion in Carmel, New York. “I am currently several months behind in paying my personal bills,” he wrote. “For instance, I am currently over $100,000 behind in rent for the only home in which I live and at risk of being evicted.” Dash lost Two Tribeca lofts in 2010 to foreclosure. He has also lost several lawsuits that have taken a large toll on his finances, as well his expensive divorce from ex-wife Rachel Roy back in 2004. Dash also owes over $4 million in state taxes and owes federal tax money, as well.
New York City deejay and on-air personality DJ Megatron, born Corey McGriff was fatally shot this morning in the city’s Staten Island borough. Megatron had worked for both HOT 97 (97.1 FM) as well as BET’s 106 & Park in his career. According to police, Corey “DJ Megatron” McGriff was shot down while talking to a friend on his cell phone on his way to buy some weed and a cigar. Police are still investigating the reason behind the shooting, if any. They’re also seeking information on three young men who fled the scene. McGriff, a father of three, allegedly left his four year old child home alone.
Twenty-two-year-old William Williams, who fatally shot DJ Megatron in the chest back in 2011, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison as part of a plea bargain. If he hadn’t, he could have faced trial on a second-degree murder charge and 25 years to life behind bars. “After careful reflection and thought, my client decided this was in his best interest,” Williams’ lawyer, Mario Gallucci, told NYDN. via:hiphopdx
