Eve Recalls Her Early Career With Ruff Ryders

Eve had a lot to prove when she broke into hip-hop in the 1990s. In an interview with VIBE, the former Ruff Ryders First Lady talked about how she was perceived as the only woman in a male-dominated crew and how much harder those perceptions made her work. ”If anything, I probably overcompensated as a woman. With dudes, you have to snatch the respect,” she said. “You earn it, gain it, snatch it. I also was adopted compared to everyone else. They’re from Harlem and Yonkers and here’s this girl from Philly, so I had to prove that I could write like them or better than them. I had to prove that I wasn’t a groupie. I did whatever I could to gain that respect and let them know I didn’t need them to carry me.”

DMX Threatens To Sue Oprah’s Network, Says Iyanla Vanzant Can “Suck My D-ck”

DMX is reacting. The Yonkers rapper is still peeved at the way he was portrayed on the OWN Network‘s Iyanla: Fix My Life and is threatening a lawsuit to have the show’s footage taken down, while slandering its host. As previously reported, the “Get At Me Dog” rapper felt that Vanzan’t show swindled him. Thinking that the episode would focus on his addiction to women, instead it ended up being about his substance abuse problems and its collateral damage, including his estranged relationship with his son.  ”Iyanla did not ‘fix’ DMX’s life just made his image worse, and does not have DMX’s personal written consent to use the footage,” said, X’s press representative in a statement. Recently, the rapper/actor spoke to TMZ and he’s still irate. “Iyanla set the whole thing up to make me look bad for ratings,” he said. But, he wasn’t finished. “That lady is toxic … My last words to her were that she can suck my d**k and she still can.” That’s not very classy, beloved. It will be interesting, and essential to DMX’s case, to see if he did or did not sign off on the use of his image in the program. Vanzant issued on open letter (via a video you can watch below), basically telling Dark Man X to gey some help. “I want you to remember the person you became in the final months of your grandmother’s life. That’s a clean life,” part of her message says.

DMX Says Iyanla: Fix My Life “Made His Image Worse”

DMX is not a fan of the episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life that he starred in this weekend. According to the Yonkers rapper, the show was set up under false pretenses and only hurt his image. On the episode, life coach Iyanla Vanzant traveled to Yonkers to meet with the rapper. At the start of the show it is revealed that DMX was seeking help to deal with his constant womanizing. However, the season premiere episode of the OWN network program focused on his substance abuse problems and his relationship with his family, particularly with his estranged wife and their son. A press representative for the “Get At Me Dog” rapper issued the following statement:

“DMX agreed to be a guest on “Iyanla: Fix My Life” with the understanding that she would be helping his relationships with his ten children. When he arrived for the taping, most of the content was focused on his struggles with drugs and poor parenting. Iyanla did not “fix” DMX’s life just made his image worse, and does not have DMX’s personal written consent to use the footage.”

The representative went on to reveal that Dark Man X is working on a new album which will include contributions from Swizz Beatz along with hopes of all working with Timbaland, Dr. Dre, and Kanye West. Recently, X hit the stage as a surprise guest during an Alicia Keys concert in New York City. Also, DMX will be appearing in a film called Blame It On The Hustle featuring Mekhi Phifer and Ving Rhames.

DMX’s Wife Criticizes 50 Cent Over Cancellation Of “Starter Wives Confidential”

DMX's Wife Criticizes 50 Cent Over Cancellation Of "Starter Wives Confidential"

DMX‘s estranged wife took 50 Cent to task after he took credit for the cancellation of her TV series.

The estranged wife of DMX recently took aim at 50 Centover the cancellation of her TV show, “Starter Wives Confidential.” Tashera Simmons addressed Fif’s recent comments that he was responsible for the cancellation of her TLC reality series, which followed on a number of celebrities’ former partners. She said that rappers like 50 Cent – whose whose ex-girlfriend appeared in the first episode of the series - enjoy the benefits of a sexist double standard, while her and her co-stars are penalized for attempting to share their stories. ”I am very disappointed by the sequence of events that has taken place in the last week. It’s disheartening that the show was cancelled after two episodes due to many inflated egos,” she said in a statement. “I am no stranger to television and what just happened was unheard of and completely unorthodox. There were millions of dollars and a lot of hard work put into this project by the producers, staff, and my co-stars. It’s hard to believe that there are still some fundamental issues in our society about women speaking up or having a voice.”

She continued, “It’s okay for rappers to get on television and tell their story about how many times they were shot or how they were heavily in the drug game, but it’s not okay for women to share their story about their life experiences. ‘Starter Wives Confidential’ was more than a show about bitter or entitled women; it was about a group of women stepping out of the shadows of their ex’s and finding their way in life personally and professionally.” As previously mentioned, Fif took credit for the show’s cancellation in a Tweet earlier this week. TLC has since issued a statement indicating that the show was cancelled due to low ratings.

DMX Released From Jail In South Carolina [Video]

DMX was arrested this morning in South Carolina for driving without a license. He was detained at County Jail and has been released.

“When I could have just paid the money right there on the spot,” Simmons told FOX Carolina. “Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing. I don’t have a court date or a court appearance.” He said he also had his five-month-old daughter in the car when he was arrested.

DMX Arrested For Driving Without A License

DMX can’t seem to keep himself out of trouble.

According to FOX Carolina 21, Dark Man X was arrested for driving without a license in Spartanburg, South Carolina earlier this morning. He claims that he left a local gas station and an officer followed him a short distance, only to pull him over and arrest him. He was booked into the Spartanburg County jail around 2 a.m. “When I could have just paid the money right there on the spot,” said DMX, who had his five-month-old daughter in the car at the time of arrest. “Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing. I don’t have a court date or a court appearance.” At 6 a.m., the gruff rapper went before a judge and was released shortly after. Deputies say that he had been issued tickets in Greer and Duncan, accused of driving without a license and only had a state ID card on him. After pulling him over, deputies claimed that the car was turned over to a different licensed passenger who was in the car. In July 2011, DMX was released from prison after serving a seven-month bid for violating probation. A judge said that X, who at the time had been incarcerated 13 times, had “an undiagnosed mental condition” and possibly suffered from bi-polar disorder. Last May, X said that he wanted “less trouble” and was going to try to clean up his act. He released his comeback album Undisputed in September, though it only moved 17,000 copies in its first week. The project is the point of a multi-million dollar legal war between Seven Arts Entertainment and In The Zone Entertainment over distribution rights to the LP.
