Mac Miller’s “Donald Trump” Certified Platinum

Mac Miller's "Donald Trump" Certified Platinum

Today, the RIAA confirmed March certifications. Among them was Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania emcee Mac Miller‘s breakout hit “Donald Trump.” The Rostrum Records single appeared on Miller’s March, 2011 mixtape Best Day Ever. Subsequently released digitally, the song—produced by Newark, Delaware‘s SAP—exceeded 1,000,000 in sales. The song was not included on Mac’s 2011 debut, Blue Slide Park.

“Donald Trump” marks Mac’s first platinum award. The song was certified gold in the closing days of 2011. Its namesake, investor and politician Donald Trump threatened, via Twitter, to sue the emcee/producer earlier this year, asking for many in lieu of the gold plaque. He also referred to the rapper as “Little Mac Miller” repeatedly. Miller responded via Twitter that he did not “want ti put any more negative energy into the world,” and asked the Trump Towers founder to “be friends.” Previously, in mid-2011, a supportive Trump branded Mac, “the next Eminem.”

Donald Trump Says Django Unchained Is “The Most Racist Movie” He’s Ever Seen [PHOTOS]

You can always count on Donald Trump to give his opinion on pretty much anything. This time, Trump has slammed Django Unchained, as “the most racist” movie he’s ever seen. He’s a little late with the critique since Django hit theaters on Christmas Day, but given its two wins at the Oscars last night–in the Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor categories–Trump figured he might as well speak up. Trump was tweeting up-to-the-minute reviews of the awards show, and called out Django as a terrible film. “‘Django Unchained’ is the most racist movie I have ever seen, it sucked!” The 65-year-old isn’t the only person who hated the spaghetti-Western-style slave film. Spike Lee blasted director Quentin Tarantino over the work, only to face criticism over his criticism, from Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, and Jamie Foxx. Like in the case of Lee, speaking out opens one up to backlash, and the Twitter responses that Trump received were pretty epic. In fact, we’ve pulled a bunch of them for your review.

Donald Trump Threatens To Sue Mac Miller Over “Donald Trump” Song

Donald Trump Threatens To Sue Mac Miller Over "Donald Trump" Song
Donald Trump is singing a different tune about Mac Miller‘s song “Donald Trump,” which he previously praised.

Donald Trump has threatened legal action against Mac Miller over his gold-certified song “Donald Trump.” The business tycoon took to Twitter earlier today to blast the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania rapper, defying earlier statements that he was “proud of him” and that he is the “new Eminem.” “Little @macmiller, you illegally used my name for your song ‘Donald Trump’ which now has over 75 million hits,” he wrote. “Little @macmiller, I want the money not the plaque you gave me! Little @macmiller, I’m now going to teach you a big boy lesson about lawsuits and finance. You ungrateful dog! Little @macmiller—I have more hair than you do and there’s a slight age difference.” Trump, known for his Twitter antics, previously praised Mac for the song back in August 2011. “A lot of people are calling me about the Mac Miller rap song. Now, it’s named ‘Donald Trump.’ Maybe you should pay me a lot of money, but it just did over 20 million people, tuning into Mac Miller,” he said. “So in one way, I’m proud of him. I haven’t actually seen the language, it’s a little hard to understand on the song itself. Probably, it’s not the cleanest language you’ve ever heard, but this kid is the new Eminem. Everybody says he’s fantastic. Let’s see what it is. But the ‘Donald Trump’ song just hit over 20 million, that’s not so bad. I’m very proud of him.” Miller later responded, “I was just excited that I’ve reached a level where someone like that, I’m on their radar. I’m ‘bout to hit him to borrow the jet real quick.” The rapper is yet to speak on the matter. He recently settled a $10 million lawsuit from Lord Finesse over copyright infringement.
