Publishing Company Files Lawsuit Over Rights To Aaliyah’s Music

A publishing company has filed a lawsuit claiming rights to Aaliyah‘s music. Reservoir Media Management is suing Craze Productions for alleged unlawful use of the late singer’s hits. Craze is accused of illegally selling Aaliyah’s music on iTunes. According to the suit, the company put tracks off the Detroit native’s self-titled debut, and her One In a Million release, up for sale. Reservoir –a New York City-based publishing company  housing hits for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Usher, and more– claims to have acquired rights to the singer’s catalog last year. The company maintains that it never gave Craze authorization to  sell the music. The lawsuit seeks to have a judge block Craze from further distribution of Aaliyah’s work, and pay a financial settlement. Ownership behind Aaliyah’s music may have hindered the release of her  posthumous album. Last year, it was announced that Drake and Noah “40″ Shebib were executive-producing the project, which was to feature 13-14 songs.

Justin Timberlake Releasing Another Album In November

Justin Timberlake might be working on a second release this year. The former boy band member has been taking over just about every television and performing opportunity in the land, to promote his forthcoming The 20/20 Experience album, and rumor has it that this fall will bring another release. The news was revealed on the Okay Player message boards, with ?uestlove writing that JT was planning to drop a follow-up in November. The Philly native was responding to comments about Timberlake’s soon-to-be-released third album, his first in seven years. “Its constructive criticism,” he wrote about the negative feedback. “I will say the album is OVERLY ambitious. like a LOT of ideas crammed into one.” And then he dropped a jewel. “Spoiler alert. 20/20 Vol 2 comes out in nov. (10 songs now…..10 songs later= 20 vision).” Timberlake hasn’t yet confirmed the report, but if it came from ?uestlove, it’s probably true. Fans waiting for the second installment of  The 20/20 Experience can tide themselves over with part one, which drops March 19.

timbaland-birthday-1

Timbaland celebrated his 41st birthday with his wife Monique Idlett and a small list of industry friends Thursday, March 14, at Southern Hospitality, a Memphis BBQ restaurant in New York City. As one would expect, long time friend and collaborator Missy Elliott was in attendance. Other attendees included the current golden boy Justin Timberlake, who showed face with his spouse Jessica Biel by his side, Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx, and even Chelsea Clinton. Yes, we’re as weirded out by the last one as you are. Elliott made sure to publicly wish Timbo a happy birthday on Twitter. “Happy Birthday Bro we come from the Bottom together my Nig! *drakevoice* Love u may God Bless u 2 C many More Bdays!” It’s our guess that the festive gathering was also a celebration of Timbaland’s resurgence, most of which has to do with the praises he’s receiving for his work on Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, which he fully produced. Just a few days ago, the Virginia producer alluded that he had more up his sleeve, tweeting “and just think u aint heard nothing yet haha i’m just gettin started.”

Ne-Yo

Beyonce’s ‘alleged’ new album track-list was leaked today and R&B Singer/Writer Ne-yo is happy to know that he’s included in that lineup. The new album entitled “Mrs. Carter,” is set to feature artists such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Sia, her sister Solange, hubby Jay-Z, Azealia Banks and Ne-Yo.

Beyonce Tour

Neyo Stated:

“I saw that Beyoncé’s tracklisting just leaked and I’ve got a couple of joints on there, which is good news. I’m very happy about that. Asked if he believed the leaked tracklist was real, he said: “I don’t know, I mean you never really can tell until the album comes out.” On the process of working with Beyoncé on the LP, he explained: “I’ve heard some songs from the album so I knew what direction I should be going in. The last thing you want to do is write a song that makes no sense with the direction of the album, so she let me hear some stuff so I knew where to aim. “I can’t say much else as I’ve been sworn to secrecy! I’m actually happy that no songs have leaked from it yet. Hopefully this is a sign for the future – that music can come out when it’s actually supposed to come out.”

Here’s the supposed track-list:

Alleged Tracklist:
01. Ratchet (feat. Lady Gaga & Azealia Banks)
02. Back 2 Business (feat. Jay-Z)
03. Roller Coaster (feat. Justin Timberlake)
