DJ Khaled Explains Suffering From Success Album; Doesn’t Confirm Vado Signing [VIDEO]

Although DJ Khaleds sixth album, Kiss The Ring, hit stores last year, he’s already working on his seventh studio album called Suffering From SuccessThe We The Best Records CEO spoke with Karen Civil and revealed that the new album will solidify him as a winner. “What separates [Suffering From Success from previous albums] is that I made it to my seventh album,” he said. “After Kiss the Ring, I’m a winner. So I’ma continue winning, but when I was coming up, I didn’t know that when you win, you gotta deal with a lot of this unnecessary bullshit a lot. So my album sound is going to… You’re going to hear different types of anthems: the suffering side, and the success side.” While Vado has spoken a lot about signing to Khaled’s We The Best record label, the mogul doesn’t confirm or deny that he has signed the Harlem rapper. “Definitely shout out Vado and definitely shout out Harlem. First of all, I love New York. It’s second home. I represent the music of Hip Hop, period,” he said. “I’ma be real with you. Right now, I’m bigging up Vado right now. I never said. You sayin’, I ain’t never said. But, expect a big announcement and something real exciting.” Check out the full interview below.

In a move that surprised almost nobody, Vado has confirmed that he is signing to DJ Khaled‘s We The Best Music Group. The Harlem rapper who was previously signed to Interscope Records confirmed to This Is 50, the same website that put footage of Khaled’s mother on the internet, that he will be joining We The BestHe will be joining such acts as Ace Hood and Mavado. “It’s going down man it’s about to be on and crazy,” Vado told Jack Thriller in a sit down. “Everybody got the word in and [Khaled] reached out ASAP. So of course, you know we got the same vision and that’s to take over and go straight to the top and stay there. And he want to get me there, and I’m gonna let him.” While rumors circulated that Drake’s newly launched OVO Records and T.I.’s Grand Hustle all reached out in attempts to sign Vado, it looks like Khaled had the inside track to the rapper during the entire courting process. Call us suckers, but it might seem that Vado had signed to Khaled all along and the rumors of a bidding war might have been drummed up to cause a buzz, but nobody would make that up, would they? Of course not.

As Vado begins to generate interest for his new project Slime Flu 3, he continues fielding offers from labels. According to the rapper, he is leaning towards signing with DJ Khaled’s We The Best but says nothing has been finalized. He also stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about how he was going to form a group with Lloyd Banks, Juelz Santana and Fabolous. ”That’s how it’s looking but you know there’s nothing guaranteed yet,” he said of his deal with Khaled. “But that’s how it’s looking…We’ve got the same mission and that’s going straight to the top. When I had a sit-down with him (DJ Khaled), he was telling me everything I wanted to hear so you know, it was on and poppin’.”  

He also shared that there has been interest from T.I. about signing him but that nothing was finalized. Later in the interview, Vado mentioned a group that he was looking to form. According to Slime, talks began with Lloyd Banks, Juelz Santana and Fabolous about a group. “To be honest, we spoke on it one time,” he explained. “Shout out to Banks. Shout out to Juelz. We was all on a conference call. We was reaching out to Fab. We was trying to get the commission, like a group. We was tryin’ to form some superhero type…But you know people got they albums…So we just fell back with it.”
