Even though he first made his mark alongside Grand Puba and Lord Jamar as a member of Brand Nubian, veteran rhymer Sadat X has managed to carve himself a niche in Hip Hop as a solo artist. Now, the New York emcee is celebrating the release of his ninth solo LP.
This past December 4, Sadat released his latest effortLove, Hell or Right via 6.8.2 Records. With features fromPharoahe Monch, N.O.R.E., Roc Marciano and more, as well as production from Marco Polo, Showbiz and DJ Spinna, X explains that the album falls under the category of ”grown man music” that will appeal to his generation of artists.
“You have to go through hell in order to do right,” he said. “It’s dedicated to the hardworking people and not about fame and glory. Hip Hop spans the globe, its universal. It’s an art – it doesn’t imitate, it creates…it’s grown man music. Now that my generation has grown and matured, I’m making music for them.”
