Ghostface Killah Blasts RZA for Recent Lack of Music Quality

XXL Magazine chopped it up with Ghostface Killah recently, who had some harsh words for his fellow Wu member, RZA.  While RZA has expressed his desire to have the Wu-Tang reunite in the near future, Ghostface spoke openly about how he was disappointed in RZA’s 2007 work, “8 Diagrams“, as he felt that project didn’t properly reflect RZA’s talents or potential.

“8 Diagrams, I couldn’t stand it ’cause I know us, and then I know my man [RZA] even more.  I’m like, ‘Yo, how could you give our f*cking people that?’ Now you had people that said, ‘Oh no, I liked it.’ That might be the ‘yes men’ n*ggas. You know what I mean? Or it’s a miss or something ’cause I know how we can be. These motherf*ckers wanted the skits. They wanted to feel like they at home with us. They wanna feel like, ‘Y’all didn’t hear this in a long time. What y’all got now?’

“I saw him give other n*ggas fly samples from Nas to Busta Rhymes. Busta Rhymes sent me some sh*t, I said, ‘Yo, where you get this from?’I went to RZA. I told him I wanted this box right here. He gave us some fly sh*T’…pay for the sample RZA. Pay for the sample. So what they gonna take this and things, but the people want that from us right now. Pay for the f*cking sample. RZA’s my brotha for life. That’s my brother-in-law. I got babies by his f*cking sister. But what I’m hearing, I’m not saying I’m the best, but I’m consistent about my sh*t. So what you gon’ roll with? The n*gga that’s being consistent or – even though he taught me a lot of sh*t but it’s like is your sh*t still – the way y’all been making these cakes for the past 30 years. Entenmann’s. Are y’all still making those kind of cakes? Or Little Debbie‘s is coming up blowin’. C’mon man, that’s not that crumb cake, n*gga.”

Raekwon Addresses Possibility Of Wu-Tang Clan Reunion

Raekwon Addresses Possibility Of Wu-Tang Clan Reunion

Raekwon says that for a Wu-Tang Clan reunion to happen, it has to be done right.

With the Wu-Tang Clan’s 20th year in the business recently passing, Raekwon discussed the possibility of a Wu reunion. In an interview with MTV’s “RapFix Live,” Rae admitted that, at times, he can be the most difficult Wu member to deal with. “The bottom line is: Of course I want to see a Wu-Tang reunion. Of course. Who wouldn’t?” he said. “I just want everything to be right, the business. When we made a lot of our great music, it was because we were in harmony. You cannot put guys together if there is no harmony, and on top of it, we’re doing business. As a man with children, I have to always look at that. It’s bigger than sometimes just the thought of it, the fact of it, it just gotta make sense.” Raekwon continued, saying that despite any differences he and RZA may have had, he was indebted to the Abbot. “What RZA did for my life and my career, I can never repay him, but more importantly, I know what I’ve done: I’ve built my bones. I’m on over like two (thousand) or 3,000 records,” he explained. “I’ve created a brand for Raekwon, too. So, my thing is: I always just want to be fair about the business.”

“I’m not saying anything bad about RZA, but we’ve had problems in the past. That’s with any crew; every crew go through this, every artist, but then, hey, enough is enough. It’s like you just want things to be right and be fair,” he explained. “We got people running around with tattoos on their neck, their head, their face, their feet, their arms, they naming their babies after us,” he said of the Wu’s impact. “They’re doing all of this and all of that, and when it’s time to do business, we’re grumpy? That’s not fair to everybody.”

Ghostface Killah Confirms "Supreme Clientele 2" & MF DOOM LPs For 2013, Talks Wu-Tang Clan Reunion Album

Ghostface Killah took a few years off from his solo career, but he’s ready to dive back in. During an interview with Montreality, Tony Starks said that Supreme Clientele 2: Blue & Cream is scheduled for release this summer and that it could possibly arrive as early as July. “Blue & Cream. Hopefully this summer, hopefully this summer. Maybe like August or something like that,” he said. “I’m going to try for August, September or maybe July, but I think August might sound more reasonable if i can do it. I shouldn’t set it, because sometimes when I say a date, it don’t ever [stick]. But I gotta put it out because I’ve been sitting in it going on three years.” Additionally, he confirmed that his collaborative LP with MF DOOM will finally get released this year. He said that fans sould anticipate the album dropping around Halloween, and will satiate fans in the meantime with his Adrian Younge collaborative project Twelve Reasons to Die, dropping April 16th.

“I got the MF DOOM project coming. I think we’re going to probably drop that around Halloween,” he said. “I got the shit I just did for RZA, Twelve Reasons to Die, that’s coming in April. … It’s a whole fucking movie but it’s an album from beginning to end. It’s different, though.” As for the storied Wu-Tang Clan reunion LP, Pretty Tony said that the crew has been in talks to record another album but that there are no solid plans set in stone. He said that RZA hopes to get true musicians to craft beats for the project and that it will stray from the sample-based sounds of albums past. “They talkin’ about it. I would love for it to happen,” he said.” I talked to RZA. RZA wants to do it and he said he was getting these other beats from real magicians, not nobody just making it in a beat machine. He wants to go a different route because it’s the 20th anniversary. Like a real album, album, album, album, album, with real, real music. Not just samples and a bunch of shit. Just real magicians playing shit. … You know, we’ve been having a lot of – not saying bad luck, but just a lot of disagreements. That’s why a lot of times, you don’t really hear too many new records. Hopefully this shit, we can get through that and just give it to the people and see what’s up. But it gotta be right, though. If it’s not right, I apologize.” Ghostface will release Twelve Reasons to Die on April 16th.
