As we previously reported, Kobe Bryant and his mother Pamela Bryant have been at odds over memorabilia from Kobe’s youth and early career that Pamela has been trying to sell to an auction house. The auction house had already given her a $450,000 advance on Kobe’s box of personal treasures. The auction house decided to sue Kobe after he learned about the impending auction of his childhood items such as trophies, championship ring, high school varsity letters, etc. and became upset. Kobe subsequently asked for his items back. Why they didn’t sue his mom for the money we still don’t yet understand. This was said to be as a result of Kobe offering to buy his parents a house in Vegas that was nice but the Bryant’s allegedly felt they should get an even bigger house than the one that Kobe offered, as his pick was not as luxurious as the house they wanted. So his mom allegedly gathered up his possessions and took them to sell off in order to get the money to buy the house his parents desired.
Rumors began circulating that Kobe had spent a few million on a house for his mother in-law and that his parents were upset that he wasn’t doing the same for them. Our guess is that if this is true, he’s had quite a bit to make up to his mother in law in regards to the way he allegedly had been treating her daughter. Think about it. But we digress. And the NBA All-star player has reportedly given his parents millions of dollars and other houses and cars over the span of his career. Let us remember that the rates of professional players going broke after retirement are huge. Kobe is probably trying to plan for his future as well as his two little girls future at this point. He is not guaranteed to come back off his injury at 100% either. He could actually end up retiring earlier than expected. So knowing all of this, most people had already made up their minds as to who was right and who was wrong in this situation. But TMZ is breaking the word today, that it’s even bigger than we reported before, as Kobe is now counter suing the auction house and asking a judge to shut the entire auction down, because he says that his mother stole items from inside his home and that she has refused to give things that he still wants back!
Former NBA superstar Michael Jordan, is set to tie the knot to Miami-born ex-model Yvette Prieto today at Bethesda by the Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach, Gossip Extra reports. And the reception will reportedly follow at Jordan’s home in the Bear’s Club in Jupiter. They expect about 2,000 guests for their big day. Jordan wasn’t giving much away recently when he spoke to Entertainment Tonight. He said he was more concerned about his privacy after being in the spotlight for so long. “I’m still in it a little bit, but I can control it to some degree — to me my privacy is the most important thing to me right now.”
Most of those involved with Jordan’s wedding have signed confidentiality agreements, and the source asked not to be identified by name.
“I calculated a total under-roof space of about 600 feet long by 150 feet wide. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve been working weddings for a while. It looks like he’s having about 2,000 people over.”
The amount of equipment being brought to the house is also impressive.
By mid-afternoon today, three semis with Illinois license plates waiting in line for access to Jordan’s property.
There were four smaller trucks as well, and two large vans carrying the sound system for the party.
That didn’t take too long, did it?. The Brooklyn Nets player Kris Humphries has finally granted ex-wife Kim Kardashian her divorce. He allegedly chose to head to the playoffs instead of continuing to fight Kim K. He’s lucky Jay didn’t drop him from the team.
Everyone has been partially following (either by choice, or otherwise) the split between Kardashian and Humphries. It was the love affair that only lasted 72 days, and echoed for longer than necessary. Kardashian has been overtly vocal about wanting a divorce from Humphries both in the media and in jest (peep her takeover of Chelsea Lately, where she politely sons her ex with the help of sister Khloe). Well, the NBA star officially gave up the battle.
Humphries’ rep told TMZ, “Kris and his family are excited to move forward and are grateful for all the support they have received in this process. His commitment to the Brooklyn Nets and the team’s incredible fans is his number one priority and he is excited to head into the playoffs tomorrow with this situation behind him.” The 28-year-old left the situation with no money, and no annulment. Was it worth it? Now that Ms. Kardashian is free from her b-balling ex –and having a baby with Kanye West– does this mean that the two will tie the knot? Stay tuned.
Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions. It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I’m a Brooklyn Net forever. It’s been an honor to work with Mikhail Prokhorov, Dmitry Razumov, Christophe Charlier, ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, Brett Yormark and all the wonderful people involved in making the Nets first class. My sincerest thanks goes to Bruce Ratner, who first introduced the idea of moving the Nets to Brooklyn. A thank you and deepest appreciation goes to the fans. You are the lifeblood of any team.
The Nets have made their mark on the NBA and as they enter a new era, Roc Nation does as well; as we embark on Roc Nation Sports. Our newest endeavor is committed to building the brands of professional athletes as we have done for some of today’s top music artists. For Roc Nation Sports to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. It was a tough decision but as I stated earlier, it’s not about ownership. Congratulations to The Nets on a great season and making the playoffs! I will always be a Brooklyn Net.
Being an NBA athlete, you get used to women throwing themselves at you with no ounce of shame or tact. Well, NBA champion Mario Chalmers isn’t feeling that and let two young women know. Chalmers embarrassed two women for claiming they were partying with the Miami Heat point guard when all they really did was ask for a quick picture. The unidentified women saw Chalmers at a rooftop establishment and asked for a photo. When the picture was posted on Instagram by one of the ladies, they captioned it with, “Roof top bottle poppin with nba champ @mchalmers15.” Chalmers wasn’t thrilled in the slightest about how they spun the brief encounter and quickly responded to the photo very matter-of-factly, “Ummm false. Yall just asked for a pic.” Needless to say, the women’s mentions were assaulted with people making fun of the two for their blatant thirst for fame. As embarrassing as this is, it serves them right and should be a lesson to all groupies. While you can sleep with an athlete and pen tell-all books about your raunchy escapades, but famous athletes can put you on blast just as easily.
Pamela Smith, the woman who accused NBA legend Michael Jordan of fathering her son had her day in court today. Smith was due to go before Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane at 2 p.m. today. Smith’s attorney, Randy Kessler, is confident that Judge Tipton Lane won’t dimiss the case.
According to Rollingout Magazine
Kessler said in a statement to press, “We are honored to have been asked to represent Ms. Smith who has been unable to resolve this matter herself. The vicious statements made in Mr. Jordan’s legal documents will be responded to in her own forthcoming pleadings, but at this time Ms. Smith wants to be clear. Her former husband Mr. Reynolds has not been involved in her child’s life since the divorce in 2005, has never paid support for the child and has shown no interest in the child. The claims by Respondent’s counsel that ‘It is troubling that Smith now inflicts measurable harm upon her son while seeking to deprive her son’s father Reynolds, of the rights and privileges of joint legal custody’ are completely unfounded and meant only to disparage her. Our client feels that Mr. Jordan had numerous opportunities to resolve this matter by having a simple conversation with her. If he claims he is not the father, a simple $300 saliva test could likely resolve the issue instead of further court or public involvement.”
Jordan and Smith were involved in a relationship in 1995 – while he was married to his first wife Juanita.
