With Lil Wayne’s recent seizure scares putting the spotlight back on codeine use, Soulja Boy has pretty much endorsed the drug. Using Instagram to share a photo gallery of his daily life, the Atlanta rapper made sure to put his cough syrup addiction front and center. “Make that work work make that sh-t flip,” he posted alongside a photo of a plastic bag containing three small bottles, next to one large bottle, of codeine. The image got more than 1,000 responses, may of which criticized the 22-year-old for promoting use of the very substance that led to the death of UGK‘s, Pimp C. “You are a dumb a– and you are going to end up dead behind this sh-t,” wrote one person.  ”We don’t give a sh-t [about] you. We trying to save Wayne!” He allegedly got so much backlash that some of the comments were removed. In looking further into his Instagram account, Hip-Hop Wired found that codeine is often the object of the Atlanta native’s affection. This stuff is no joke, but maybe he doesn’t get it.

Big Boi Praises Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic,” Explains How He Got A Pimp C Verse

Big Boi Praises Dr. Dre's "The Chronic," Explains How He Got A Pimp C Verse

Big Boi recently chopped it up with Hard Knock TV, discussing everything from his new album Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors to the scheme that he and Andre 3000 concocted to get free CDs when they were young. He also turned his attention to Dr. Dre‘s The Chronic, explaining why it impacted him and what he found so special about the LP. “The Chronic album definitely stood out,” he said. “One of the main reasons to me is how it was put together. It was a real cinematic, for one. For two, Dr. Dre was introducing some of the most lethal emcees back then. Snoop, Kurupt… There was a whole crew of fresh, young cats coming out over Dr. Dre production. The skits and everything tied the whole album together.” He also touched on how he managed to get an unreleased Pimp C verse for bonus track “Gossip,” which also features Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. He says he had it for years from an old Organized Noize song and decided that he could use it for this project. ” “Had it for years. Organized Noize was on a record a long time ago that was unreleased or whatever, and then I had it for my last record. UGK is one of my favorite groups ever, and having Big K.R.I.T. and Bun and Pimp C on the record over an Organized Noize track is a dream come true.
