Waka Flocka Flame Is Planning An EDM-Based Album

waka_flocka_50

Waka Flocka Flame is known for his high-energy sound. Now, we might just get a EDM-rap hybrid from Flocka soon. Earlier today, Flocka told HipHopDX that an EDM album is “already in motion.” “Club jumpin’ like I’m Skrillex, get ‘em Diplo…” The King of Rap EDM is me. I’ve been there. Punk Rap, that’s EDM. People didn’t understand what I was saying, now they do. I see a lot of my students, I’m like the principal, I’m here to talk. Are you going to do an EDM-based album then? Waka Flocka Flame: Yes. Yes. It’s already in the motion. Flosstradamus, Diplo, Skrillex. Some underground people, too. I want to create a name. I’ve been doing it in hip-hop so long. Flocka hasn’t set anything in stone for a release date. However, he does have his upcoming album Flockaveli 2, which should features collaborations with Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and more. We’re also not surprised about Waka experimenting with EDM. After all, he did express his interest in working with Miley Cyrus. We can only imagine that track would be pretty heavily dance-influenced.

Timbaland Accused Of Insurance Scam Over $1.8 Million Missing Watch

Timbaland is seeking a payout over a $1.8 million watch that allegedly went missing, but the company behind the expensive jewelry doesn’t believe his story. The super producer is being accused of committing insurance fraud to get a check. Not that he needs the money, since his net worth is estimated at $75 million, but conflicting stories has the insurance company suspicious.

From TMZ:

TMZ broke the story … Timbaland filed a lawsuit against American Home Assurance Company claiming his 2-year-old daughter lost his Jacob & Co. watch bedazzled with 30 carats of diamonds … and the insurance company won’t ante up. But in new legal docs … A.H.A.C. claims it doesn’t owe Timbaland a dime — claiming he’s been as slippery as a seal, lying like a rug. The insurance company claims:

– Timbaland bought the watch for $900,000 but insured it for TWICE the purchase price.

– Timbaland reported the watch stolen … but 4 months later claimed his daughter misplaced it.

– Everyone involved told a different story … the wife implicated another female, the assistant implicated the maid, the maid only copped to sleeping with Timbaland’s brother-in-law and the brother-in-law refused to cooperate. No one ever mentioned the daughter losing the watch, like Timbaland belatedly claimed.

The missing watch came during a hectic time for the Virginia native. His family believed that he was going to attempt suicide because he was upset over losing the watch. In August of 2010, the father of two went out for a drive and couldn’t be reached by family members. He was eventually found by police, and taken back to his home. Days later he confirmed that he was distraught over the stolen watch, but had no intentions of taking his life.

Jay-Z Is Working On A New Album [PHOTOS]

hova2

Lately, photos have been popping up of Jay-Z in the studio with various A-list rap names and producers. The question most people immediately ask: “Is Jay-Z working on album.” The short answer: “Duh.” Most recently, Hova was snapped in the studio with Rick Ross, Timbaland and DJ Khaled. Previously, he’s also been spotted in the lab with Swizz Beatz and Mike Will Made It. The common denominator in the pics so far is Timbaland, who recently signed up with Roc Nation. But no one has said a word about what, if any, songs were actually being recorded. However, the truth is Jay-Z has been working on a new album since before the release of his collaborative Watch The Throne project with Kanye West in 2011. He said so, when the writer of this story got an early preview of said album along with select outlets. At the time, Jay-Z relayed that he reached out to Frank Ocean to record a tune for a solo album, and was so pleased that he wanted the Odd Future crooner to contribute to WTT (“No Church In The Wild,” “Made In America”). For now, the best confirmation that an actual release is near, besides Jay-Z granting a media outlet an interview and saying, “Yes, my new album will drop on…,” will be when the “On To The New One” rapper is seen about town rocking a nappy afro. Last time that happened, when he was again rocking a crispy Caesar it signaled the completion of the WTT album. Hova probably dropping a new album in 2013 brings us to another stark reality. Jay Electronica, who Jigga signed to Roc Nation back 2010, has yet to release his debut album, Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn).

timbaland-birthday-1

Timbaland celebrated his 41st birthday with his wife Monique Idlett and a small list of industry friends Thursday, March 14, at Southern Hospitality, a Memphis BBQ restaurant in New York City. As one would expect, long time friend and collaborator Missy Elliott was in attendance. Other attendees included the current golden boy Justin Timberlake, who showed face with his spouse Jessica Biel by his side, Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx, and even Chelsea Clinton. Yes, we’re as weirded out by the last one as you are. Elliott made sure to publicly wish Timbo a happy birthday on Twitter. “Happy Birthday Bro we come from the Bottom together my Nig! *drakevoice* Love u may God Bless u 2 C many More Bdays!” It’s our guess that the festive gathering was also a celebration of Timbaland’s resurgence, most of which has to do with the praises he’s receiving for his work on Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, which he fully produced. Just a few days ago, the Virginia producer alluded that he had more up his sleeve, tweeting “and just think u aint heard nothing yet haha i’m just gettin started.”
