Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience Sells Almost 1 Million Copies 1st Week

Who said consumers don’t buy albums anymore? Justin Timberlake‘s third album, The 20/20 Experience, will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart tomorrw, selling almost a million copies its first week in stores. According to Hits Daily Double, the “Suit & Tie” crooner’s album sold 980,622 copies since dropping on Tuesday, March 19. The final sales numbers will be announced tomorrow morning via Soundscan, so there is a possible that JT’s album can still crack the million in one week mark. Today’s number blew by previous estimates that had the album selling about 750,000 units its first week. The former boy band member’s last album,  2007′s Future Sex Love Sounds, sold 648,000 copies its first week in stores. Next up for Timberlake is the Legend of the Summer stadium tour, which he is co-headlining with Jay-Z and kicks of July 17. The duo is also headlining the Wireless Festival 2013  in London about a week before their tour set out.

The highly anticipated comeback of Justin Timberlake is proving to be well worth the wait. The Pop stars new album The 20/20 Experience received early projections of half a million copies, and now all reports are pointing to sales approaching 900,000 copies, and possibly reaching a million by next week. According to Billboard, Timberlake’s first album in over six years is on track to sell between 850,000 and 900,000 copies in its opening week. There is already talk that 20/20 could top 900k if it performs strongly over the weekend. Justin’s “Legends of the Summer” tourmate Jay-Z was already popping champagne. “JT x 1 million? Getting my ‘Suit and Tie’ ready for the celebration,” tweeted Hov. “Is that the D’USSE talking? Haha! You’re out of your mind, Hov!” responded a humble J.T. The blockbuster sales will easily give him the best-selling album of the year so far and the best-ever sales week of his solo career. His previous album, 2006′s FutureSex/LoveSounds, entered at No. 1 with 684,000.

Justin Timberlake Releasing Another Album In November

Justin Timberlake might be working on a second release this year. The former boy band member has been taking over just about every television and performing opportunity in the land, to promote his forthcoming The 20/20 Experience album, and rumor has it that this fall will bring another release. The news was revealed on the Okay Player message boards, with ?uestlove writing that JT was planning to drop a follow-up in November. The Philly native was responding to comments about Timberlake’s soon-to-be-released third album, his first in seven years. “Its constructive criticism,” he wrote about the negative feedback. “I will say the album is OVERLY ambitious. like a LOT of ideas crammed into one.” And then he dropped a jewel. “Spoiler alert. 20/20 Vol 2 comes out in nov. (10 songs now…..10 songs later= 20 vision).” Timberlake hasn’t yet confirmed the report, but if it came from ?uestlove, it’s probably true. Fans waiting for the second installment of  The 20/20 Experience can tide themselves over with part one, which drops March 19.

Justin Timberlake Reveals Album Release Date

Mr. Timberlake released a pretty cool lyric video for his Jay-Z-assisted “Suit & Tie”single earlier today and dropped a little surprise towards the end. If you didn’t see it, he’s revealed the release date to his upcoming long-awaited third album, The 20/20 Experience, which is set to arrive at retailers on March 19. The LP is rumored to be entirely produced by JT’s long time collaborator Timbaland.
